It was not until it was written and recorded that I realized that this is,
for me, THE song I have always been wanting to write, for myself. The irony
was, this song didn't get born till I was asked to create it for somone
else. I write songs on commission for a living, and this song was the
resuest of one really cool wife for her very amazing husband's 60th
birthday. She asked for a song to be created without a trace of anyone or
anything else in it except what it feels like "to know and remember how
amazing you are." I thought it was going to be a tough assignment. But when
the words started flowing, there was no stopping me! Dare I confess it? I
drive around in my car blasting this song at full volume on a regular basis
now. And when I posted the song on my website in October, I received more
"Wahoo!" emails from site-visitors than I have ever had on a song before!
Although the comments came in from all over the globe, my favorite quote
came from my dad, who said, "My god! This song catches exactly how all of us
really WANT to feel!" Learn the full story (and read other songs and their
stories) here.
New day begun, shadows recede
Light breaking in; I step out from the trees
Sun on my face, beauty surrounds
Nothing to make, nothing to take down
Song on the wind, simple and true
It’s not where I go; it’s not what I do
Not what I remember, not what I forget
Not what has happened, or not happened yet
Suddenly free in this moment so pure
I have only to breathe to know I am sure
Song of Myself, Nobody else, Says I am fine, Says all is alright
What happens next? Where will it go?
Hear the song shift and lighten its load
Move with the wind, grateful and true
Song without lessons, into the blue
Wide as the sky, boundaries set free
Sweet simple refrain, I sing to me
Song of Myself, Nobody else, Says I am fine, Says all is alright
Feel what is here, clear as I rise
Into my open heart, unburdened mind
Nothing to leave unsatisfied
Nothing to fear, nothing to hide
Nothing to be done, not one thing
Only to be, only to sing
Song of Myself, Nobody else, Says I am fine, Says all is, all is, already alright
