For years I've been silent, as I've been waiting for something to happen to move my life along. A little message from heaven, a sign from the gods. Give me purpose, give me meaning, help me change to right what's wrong.
But the world keeps on spinning, every evening has its glow. Leaves are finished falling and it's just about to snow. I listen in the greyness with impatience in my heart. I can't just sit here waiting for my truest life to start.
I want to rise up singing and dancing in the dark, fashion the timber to build a new ark. I want peace, peace. I want peace, I want peace.
I've been searching for a family, searching for my home. Searching for some kindness, with some friends in kindness sown who can slow down the madness. Look each other in the eyes. Hold each others' sadness, make each other wise.
'Cause the world keeps on spinning further out of control. Fear and hatred calling for the next war to explode. I listen in the greyness with frustration in my heart. I can't just sit here watching as the world is torn apart.
I want to rise up singing and dancing in the dark, fashion the timber to build a new ark. I want peace, peace. I want peace, I want peace.
Maybe I've stopped waiting. The signs have come and gone. I don't have all the answers but the feeling is so strong. More and more people are taking to the streets, talking, singing, praying, and speaking out for peace.
As the world keeps on spinning, I hold onto this hope. Peace is the calling and I am not alone. I listen in the greyness with attention in my heart. I know this is the moment, I know it's time to start.
I'm gonna rise up singing and dancing in the dark, fashion the timber to build a new ark. I want peace, peace. I want peace, I want peace.
