Brave Records announces Gregorian Chant album: "Blessed is the Ordinary" - October 30, 2008
Michael Olbash and six other singers, collectively known as the Stepping Stone Chant Project, joined in a Vermont countryside chapel during the summer of 2008 to record "Blessed is the Ordinary." A full Latin Mass for a single Sunday, this music was taken from an ancient source: an abbey in Solesmes, France.
Olbash says of the CD: "One of the primary aims of this recording is to demonstrate to the listener the sublime beauty and genius of using the chants prescribed in the Graduale Romanum for an ordinary Mass on an ordinary Sunday.
"It is our hope that parish music directors might be inspired to sing the communion chant - even if it is coupled with other music, and even if it is not the 'proper' chant of the day - at every single Sunday Mass."
Olbash is a graduate of Harvard and Rensselear, and holds musical positions with numerous churches and choral ensembles near Boston, Massachusetts. Brave Records is an independent label for contemporary & traditional folk, world, and classical music, based in Wisconsin.
"Blessed is the Ordinary" may be previewed or purchased online at CD Baby.
